heroes.

i kind of hate to admit it, but i got so excited when i saw this photo. that little lift in the pit of my stomach. because the childlike empress was so, so awesome. between her and clara-from-the-nutcracker-in-her-floaty-nightgown, i was in little girl heaven. and yes, i did wear necklaces on my head to look so fancy like the empress. the funny thing was, i thought she was a lot older. guess i've grown up.

who was your hero? have you had this random reclaiming childhood experience? it caught me by surprise. but you know what? i kind of liked it. almost felt like skipping.

{in age related news, i forgot how old i was today and had to ask someone. i got a weird look, but it turns out i'm a year younger than i thought! best early christmas present ever.}

cardigan vs coat: warm woolies.

i saw a few flakes of snow last night and it sent me hunting for warm woolies. and look! i finally found a green coat! they are so hard to find this year...

tee vs dress. spanning the spectrum.

today's tee vs dress covers both ends of the spectrum. the i-dont-wanna-get-dressed tee and all-buttoned-up-and-lovely dress.

(and yes, the dress is strikingly similar to another i posted in the summer. you can opt for the bottom in red or purple, but there was yellow! and i love yellow! it seems necessary to follow yellow! with an exclamation point today.)

in-a-moment dress from anthropologie.

strangely enough, i did opt for a dress today. and then a pair of jeans, too. so i believe that puts me right in the middle of the aforementioned spectrum. i'm hardly buttoned up and lovely. but i did try, just a little.

peggy. unrelated to pegasus.

new in my shop! sweet little peggy, of no relation to the proud pegasus. peggy is peg legged, and earned herself an unfortunate nickname.

collecting: balloons

why do these calm me? dreams of floating away semi-fulfilled?

feast.

i do hope y'all had a lovely thanksgiving and all the turkey/tofurkey you could stuff in your tummies. i might get drawn and quartered for this, but i am not the biggest fan of the traditional thanksgiving menu (partly because i am just horrified by candied sweet potatoes, i prefer mine savory.) but, now that we've got the november noms out of the way, i can start dreaming of the christmas feast...

... slices of ham, polish sausage, pierogies, twice baked potatoes, green beans with buttered breadcrumbs, and so many decadent desserts. all bathed in twinkly little white lights! christmas gets me all kinds of starry-eyed!

so here's to the holidays. hope they're off to a good start for all of you!

{stormy little rain cloud}

well now, i'm just trapped in my own stormy little rain cloud today. and for no apparent reason! do you ever get this unshakeable bad mood? and then you watch it start to envelop the people around you, and it only makes you feel worse?

got any good ideas on how to blow the clouds away? i'd think kittens were a perfect idea, but they've been vetoed. {damn!}

{photography by carl kleiner. it's so perfect it just might be lightening my mood a bit.}
